Tools here and we outta here

May 31, 2007

At last my tools have arrived at Terry’s house so we’ve cracked out the map again and have loosely planned our trip up the coast.   To begin with, we will start at Hervey Bay as we have both been looking forward to seeing this place as it’s another hot spot for backpackers going to Fraser Island.

For those of you who have our Ozzy mobile number, you wont be able to contact us on it anymore as I inadvertently took it body boarding with me and it didn’t survive!

Nothing else to report at the moment.

Lovin Noosa

May 26, 2007

Earlier this week we left Dicky Beach and have headed back up to the Noosa area. We’ve set ourselves up at the campsite we were at before. It feels great to be back on the gorgeous beaches and mixing with the people here. Today we set ourselves a bit of an adventurous task to walk the coastal track round the headland and further through the national park on to Sunshine Beach on the other side.  It was easily a 3 hour walk incorporating 12km which to some of you may be a doddle but the Australian climate makes it quite difficult.  Nevertheless, we rewarded ourselves with a nice lunch when we got there!

For those of you have been to Noosa before, you could have warned us about Alexandra Beach guys….it’s a nudist beach!  Being a Saturday, it was quite busy and strangely enough, they were mostly men prancing around.  Hmmm.

Lee’s been enjoying using his body board as the surf has got up in the last few days.  I’ve been getting in too for a cool down, but I don’t stay in for too long because I’m a bit wary of the rips.

Tonight we’re going out for a meal to a restaurant we’ve heard have live music so we thought it would be worth a look.

Bye xx

Who-hoo what a buzz!  Thought I’d better let you know I survived my sky dive this morning.   It was an awesome experience and the biggest rush I’ve ever had.  I got the dvd which I’m gonna chop about a bit and hopefully float a video on the blog of my cheeks flapping lol!

Unfortunately on this campsite we’re being restricted with internet access so we can’t upload pictures to the blog.

Tomorrow we’re getting up early so we’ll have a full day at Australia Zoo which we’re looking forward to.

Feeling Dicky Again

May 19, 2007

Lee-

Hey all just to let you know we have moved down the coast a little way to Coloundra and haved camped in a site we visited before called Dicky Beach.  Tomorrow I am going to jump out of a perfectly operational plane in the search for a buzz! 14,000ft.

Yesterday whilst at Mooloolaba we visited Underwater World as we orginally planned to visit Steve Urwins Australia Zoo but the early morning rain put us off.  We’re penciled in to go on Monday now instead.

Today at Dicky Beach I got a good stint at body boarding and I’m definately getting the knack of it now.  It’s quite mad to think that it’s winter when the weather and water is gorgeously warm.

Will keep you updated on the sky dive and will hopefully be able to put a small vid on the blog as I’m paying extra for a dvd of the jump.

Still in noosa

May 15, 2007

Sorry we haven’t been hot on updating the blog lately.  We’ve got ourselves quite comfortable in the Noosa area and have been at a lovely site for nearly a week now overlooking the Noosa river.   We’ve met a couple from Sheffield who have been travelling longer than us and seemed to have covered a lot more of Australia. It’s been really great to share similar experiences with them…the good and the bad!

With our funds starting to run low soon, we’ll be finding some work to earn some extra dollars . We’re still waiting for Lee’s work tools to be delivered to Terry and Marions house which is why we’re hanging around in this area.  There due anytime soon, but as we keep being told, the Australians rarely adhere to timescales.

Whilst we’re waiting, we plan to go to Steve Urwins Australia Zoo as well as see the Alexandra Headlands.

We’ve still got a lot to do in the area so will probably be hanging around few more weeks.

Back in Queensland

May 10, 2007

Although we were sad to leave Catty, we’ve got some fantastic memories of our stay.  Sorry we haven’t added any more pictures at this stage, we’ll try another time.  Our cosy little villa in Martinborough was absolutely gorgeous, we felt at home the moment we walked in the door.  We even had the company of a local cat who popped in for a bit of a fuss.  On Sunday last, we hired some push bikes and road around the wine region for some wine tasting.  There are 30 vineyards in Martinborough but we only managed about 6 before heading back to our villa for some caffeine to wake us up a bit.  It was great fun and like we said, we’ve got some great memories so thank you Catty and Rhys for looking after us so well.

We’re back in sunny Australia now and looking foward to planning our next journey up the coast.  Our van looks great, we feel great and the weather is beautiful.
